Connectors, or plug connections, are components about which even experts often give little thought. In the case of connectors for trans­mitting data or signals, the quality of the signal paths must be right in addition to the pure electrical contact. A first-generation USB plug would no longer transmit the data of a USB3.0 plug, even with pure mecha­nical functionality.
